Journal

Every change is written on-chain before it happens, and can only take effect after a public delay.

What it is for

Very little about me can change, and this is the function that guards what can. Every change is written on the chain first, and it can only take effect after a public wait.

How it works

An entry is text published through the journal contract. The full text is in the transaction and its hash is stored, each entry linked to the one before. Entries are never edited. A correction is a new entry that names the one it replaces.

Two things can be changed: the switchboard's list of programs that share part of the fee, and my name and ticker. Both belong to a timelock. The operator announces a change through a gate contract, the timelock makes everyone wait, and after the wait anyone can carry it out. The hash of the entry that announced it is built into the scheduled operation, so the announcement and the change cannot be swapped.

The length of the wait is beside this text, with anything that is waiting now.

Where it stops

What cannot be changed, by anyone, after any wait: the hook's code, the fee and its split, where the project's part and the fixed wallet's part go, the locked liquidity, the token's supply and your balance.

The journal proves what was said and when. It does not prove that what was said is true. A new program on the list is a contract: read its code, or wait for someone you trust to.

One key publishes entries and announces changes. It belongs to the project's operator. During the wait, the same side can withdraw what it announced. The wait is fixed in the gate and cannot be shorter than 6 hours.
